Rockford Fair Housing Art and Video Contest

In celebration of Fair Housing Month in April, the City of Rockford, Prairie State Legal Services, and HomeStart are hosting an Art Contest for individuals k-5th grade and a Video Contest for individuals 6th-12th grade in the City of Rockford. Rockford students will receive an informational packet about Fair Housing Law, history, and the importance of diversity in our community. The packets for k-5th graders will be an interactive coloring book! Students will then demonstrate what they learned and express how they feel about where they live in either an art contest or video contest. Submissions for the contest are due May 3rd (the mail in date for submissions must be postmarked by May 1st).

The Award Ceremony will be held at Rockford City Hall on May 30th where contest winners will receive their awards and prizes and the event is open to the public to watch video submissions and view the submitted art work, which will be on display at City Hall for a week!
