Summary of Key Changes for DownPayment Plus Programs

Dear valued partner,

Including the Cost of Education on the CD & Summary of Key Changes for 2019 Downpayment Plus® Programs

Just a reminder, all borrowers named on the Closing Disclosure form must meet the homebuyer education and counseling requirements before closing on their purchase. Only the following providers may be used:

1) An organization that has adopted the education and/or counseling component of the National Industry Standards (NIS), or
2) An approved online education provider, currently Framework or eHome America.

HomeStart is HUD approved counseling agency, a Chartered Member of the NeighborWorks® Network and has adopted the education and/or counseling component of the NIS. We are an approved online educator for Framework and eHome America, also. The education is offered in person and online. For more information regarding the course, please see our “Register for a Workshop” page on our website.

Another important reminder, is that Homebuyer education costs may be paid with the DPP grant if:

-The cost has not been covered by another funding source, including the member; and
-The cost to be covered by the DPP grant does not exceed $700 per household; and
-The cost is identified on the Closing Disclosure form.
Please note, that HomeStart will send an invoice for only $250, not $700, for the counseling. The class fee must be paid upfront by the client.
Best,
