HomeStart and the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois held a grant reception on May 24 to award funding to thirteen organizations. The list of recipients and their projects are:
Edgewater Neighborhood Association
$900 for “Neighborhood Celebrations”
To enhance and supplement existing neighborhood communication.
Galapagos Rockford Charter School NFP
$1,000 for “GRCS Playground Enhancement”
To expand the landscaping in the community garden area.
Haight Village National Register Historic District
$2,240 for “Haight Village Signage Update”
To enhance the identity of the District while continuing to improve the physical look of the neighborhood.
Natural Land Institute
$2,500 for “Community Conservation Program Demonstration Rain Garden”
To help residents see first-hand how the garden functions and how to install one.
North End Square Neighborhood Association
$2,500 for “Neighborhood Engagement”
To produce and print a Welcome Home Kit, and host events to increase interaction among residents.
North Highland Square Neighborhood Association
$2,100 for “Branding and Beautification”
To create a website for neighborhood communication, and to plant around our signs and planters.
ORCHID – Third Union College Neighborhood Watch
$2,500 for “Historical Markers”
To place historical markers that illustrate the history of our neighborhood in Rockford.
River District Association
$2,500 for “Ambassador Tour User Experience Upgrade”
To purchase audio tour equipment for both docent and participant.
Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity
$1,000 for “Building Identity in Beverly Park”
To design and install neighborhood signage to increase neighborhood identity.
Rockford Park District
$1,500 for “City of Gardens Beautification Project at South Henrietta Park”
To plan 12 new shade trees in the South Henrietta Park
Rolling Green Association
$500 for “Friendship Parks”
To continue to beautify our neighborhood by establishing community areas.
Tabor Lutheran Church
$750 for “Rockview Community Garden”
To provide space and land to be tilled for organic gardens.
Youth Services Network
$2,500 for Parenthood Promise Ellis Heights Beautification and Clean-up Project”
To transform the Ellis Heights neighborhood surrounding Ellis Elementary School.
